Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson’s CD released! today!

 

The day I have been waiting for has finally arrived! Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson’s first LP has been released! One of the first posts I wrote, was about MBAR a few months ago while I was in Cambodia, and since I first laid ears on the incredible “Buriedfed” (which is also the album starter), i could NAT wait to hear more.

Anyways, the album is amazing, obviously. I mean, I dont think any other album has started off with a more incredible line then “This is my last song about myself”. It goes onto “The Debtor” which I see as almost a part two of “buriedfed”, with the repeating of “I’m not sure that I want to stay alive / it’s so expensive, it’s cheap to die.” and the same swell of instruments. The first 3 songs all have the same sort of celebratory sound, which sometimes makes it hard to realize how dark the lyrics really are, with the most prominent theme being death (“Buriedfed” and “Boneindian”, for example). I would have to say my two new favorite songs, after hearing the album, are the last two, “Above the Sun” and “Boneindian”. Both of which are excellent album finishers, and also the two which sound the most home recorded. ”Boneindian” wraps up the album with the same sort of idea it started with. If I could somehow sum up almost every song on the album I would say it all sounds like a really amazing drunken campfire sing-a-long, in the most incredible way that could be. Which makes it the perfect “start of the summer” album! The perfect album exploding with freedom and ideas and other summer things! (if you just ignore some of the slightly depressing lyrics). The only negative thing about MBAR, is he’s so damn good he’s going to start being played on One Tree Hill or Grey’s Anatomy (which is just me being selfish, and, really, would be a very good thing for him), but it’s going to happen.
